Brianna Messina, LPN, RN

Brianna Messina, LPN, RN, began her nursing career back in high school when she attended a vocational program for Nursing Assistants in 1999.  At this time, she began caring for the geriatric population in nursing homes as well as in the homecare setting.  After graduating, she entered the business side of nursing and became a recruiter for traveling nursing nationwide.  After giving birth to her son in 2007, she was inspired to go back to college and fulfill her dream of becoming a Nurse.  Brianna graduated with her LPN degree in 2010 when she began working at the Essex County Correctional Facility.  She went back to school for her RN degree which she received in 2015.  At this time, Brianna wanted to gain different experiences and skill sets to grow professionally so she went to a skilled nursing facility where she quickly moved up the ladder from Unit manager to Staff educator to Assistant Director of Nursing.  During these three years, she became a certified Dementia teacher and specialized in infection control of her facility where she communicated often with DPH and the CDC.  In March 2018, Brianna returned to the Essex County Correctional facility as the Director of Nursing.  Brianna is extremely passionate about nursing and plans to continue her education to become a Nurse Practitioner.
