Shaw’s Osco Pharmacy
Serving patients throughout New England, Shaw’s Osco Pharmacy is a full service pharmacy that goes beyond filling prescriptions. By providing medication management, immunizations, disease management, health screenings, and travel health services to the community, Shaw’s Osco pharmacists work at the highest level of their degrees.
Collaboration with the Bureau of Infections Disease and Laboratory Sciences
In response to a statewide hepatitis A outbreak, Shaw’s Osco pharmacy collaborated with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences (BIDLS) beginning in 2018 to increase hepatitis A vaccination among high-risk individuals served by Community Based Organizations (CBOs). While many CBOs expressed an interest in vaccinating their clients, they did not have the clinical staff available to administer immunizations. Shaw’s Osco pharmacy worked with these organizations and provided the staff necessary to vaccinate. Pharmacy staff reached out to agency contacts; arranged dates and times for vaccination clinics; secured pharmacists to provide vaccinations at the clinics; and worked with BIDLS and/or local health departments to coordinate vaccine ordering, delivery, and storage.
